If anyone hasn’t seen the movie “Atonement” yet, I give you fair warning. A couple of weeks ago Charlene and I made the rare trip to Blockbuster to rent a movie. I saw Atonement on the shelf and remembered all the Academy Award nominations it received. I always liked period films, and Charlene likes romantic films so we thought it was a good choice for evening. The only thing good I have to say about this movie was there were a lot beautiful scenes and the music was good. The plot was way too thin to support a way too long movie (Charlene and I both kept nodding off while watching it). There were way too many un-needed flash forwards and flash backs. It was like watching a two and a half hour perfume commercial. One word could pretty well summarize Atonement, and that would be pretentious.
