Touch Down

Off work all week I've had alot of down time to help with my mother-in-law's birthday reception held this Sunday, getting the house ready for out of town cousin-in-law's I've never met before. They're from Mooreland, Oklahoma. I Wikied the place, a thriving metropolis of 1,190 souls located near the pan handle, tornado alley. They would've felt right at home if they arrived last night.

Louisville got hit last night with a few, one of which came damn close to us. I thought for a while that we wouldn't have to pay to have our backyard tree brought down after all. It was a nail biter. A few horse barns were demolished on the backside of Churchill Downs. The horse owners arrived to find horses wandering around like nothing happened. If you believed the news we had five tornados briefly touch down, all F1's and F-2's.

On the lounge by the pool today looking at the panorama of cumulus float by near the horizon while reading the thoughts of Harry Angstrom. I haven't read any John Updike since college. Love his style. Quote from Harry Angstrom in 'Rabbit Is Rich' ... "All in all this is the happiest fucking country the world has ever seen."
