He was born Royce Scaggs in Canton, Ohio and got the nickname “Boz” as a teenager in high school. He first became well known as a singer and guitarist in The Steve Miller band, then went out on his own to make several albums. His most successful album was Silk Degrees which was nominated for several Grammys and won one for Best Song “Low Down”. Everyone and their grandmother had this album in their collection at the time.
One of my favorite Boz Scaggs songs is “Look What You’ve Done to Me”, written in ’80 for the movie Urban Cowboy.
