Hearth

It's so cold it feels like mother nature just slapped you across the face when stepping outside. Walking on the back deck causes loud cracks and pops. It felt good to come inside and start a fire. It's getting down to 4 degrees tonight in Louisville. I'd gripe but it doesn't do any
good.

I have a sort of love/hate relationship with our Franklin Stove. You have to deal with finding the wood, pack-mule it inside, take out the ashes, enlarge your carbon footprint...etc. This little
video shows the advantage. I don't know too many people who don't enjoy watching a fire in the hearth.

  2. Nice and cozy! I liked your 'slap across the face' analogy. I feel that way when it's too windy (cold wind).

  3. A long time ago in what seems another life time, I had a "Warm Morning" pot bellied stove for heat. It was false advertising because there was never a warm morning. I recall having to bank the coal before going to bed and then shaking it down in the morning, removinh the ash and re-firing it up. Those were the days!

  5. YOu are right, I love the video adn love seeing a bit of your space... neat as a pin I might add. It's even been as cold as 32 last night here in Houston. Does it snow in Louisville? Why do I think it's warm... it has all 4 seasons, methinks... is that right?
